Timeless winter wedding in Calgary at Theatre Junction Grand
Not many couples choose to have a winter wedding in Calgary. With the temperatures at a balmy -30 degree celsius for this particular wedding, I do understand why. But, I’m hoping Layne and Brady’s beautiful details and photos from Diane + Mike can sway this opinion!
Layne and Brady are one of those unicorn couples who were particular about their priorities and “wants” but also very laid-back at the same time. They trusted me and my team 100% and it was pure joy anytime we got together for meetings or even just for quick chats.
One thing that stood out to me about them was that Layne and Brady weren’t looking for a wedding filled “Pinterest” things. We all love Pinterest, but I think we also all know how easy it is to get carried away with incorporating too many ideas, and too many “things”. They also didn’t want a colour theme. Everything should feel cohesive, but not obvious. So basically music to my ears!
Instead, Layne and Brady focused on a handful of things. The wedding had to look stunning, of course, but effortlessly.
They wanted a winter wedding to celebrate with family and friends during a festive time.
They also wanted spectacular wine, as chosen by Layne and her wine connoisseur dad, and gourmet food that had to be entirely gluten-free to accommodate Brady and his Celiac family.
This was a tall order but Theatre Junction Grand and Workshop Kitchen + Culture was the perfect fit. Excellent service, excellent food and beverage.
Wedding ceremony at Theatre Junction Grand
The space at Theatre Junction Grand is such a great blank space to work with. The dark interiors felt perfect for a romantic winter wedding, allowing the cafe lights and candlelight to really pop and shine. Our white winter flowers and winter greenery brought life to the space too.

The decor for this wedding was very clean and timeless, from the crisp linens to the stationery. The goal was to take advantage of the festive time of year but not make the wedding associated with Christmas and the Holidays. There was not one pine cone or faux snow-covered anything to be found.
This was a wedding filled with lots of laughter and people just genuinely enjoying themselves. Despite the arctic temperatures outside, everyone was warm and friendly. And not once did anyone complain about the weather.
Thank you so much for letting us be part of your celebration, Layne and Brady!
And, please people, don’t be afraid to consider having a winter wedding in Calgary (or in the Rocky Mountains). Give us a shout here if you want us to help you out.
