Jody and Chris’ rustic elegant Kananaskis Lodge wedding perfectly reflected their laid-back personalities and love for wood elements.
Rose gold, navy and wood details
Jody fell in love with some rose gold flatware and liked the idea of using navy. So we built a design scheme based on those elements while taking inspiration from their home decor too. I noticed “mountain” (triangle) wood shelves in their home, and I learned that Jody and her dad enjoyed wood-working together. Naturally, we had to incorporate some of those elements into the wedding!
I distinctly remember that it started snowing (that magical, slow-motion movie snow) during Jody and Chris’ photo session. This was exciting because Jody and Chris got the winter wedding photos they wanted even though it was technically Spring. As always, it was a pleasure to work with Kristyn Harder Photography. And thank you to Wedding Bells magazine for picking this wedding up and printing in their most recent edition!
Wedding ceremony backdrop
Our favourite element was the wood backdrop that Jody’s dad created. The angles kept the backdrop modern and the flowers Flower Artistry added on-site softened the angles. We also re-purposed this backdrop for their Sweetheart Table too (never waste!).
Kananaskis Lodge wedding reception
We have noticed that hotel venues have fallen out of favour for weddings in recent years because many couples are looking for something more out-of-the-box. There is, however, a great convenience when you host your wedding at a hotel. Guests commented on how nice it was to have the wedding all in one place. They didn’t have to worry about bringing coats and boots to the wedding, for one. Plus, they loved the hospitality and helpfulness of the staff at Kananaskis Lodge.
Because planning a wedding while working full-time isn’t enough, Jody started LoewenBehold Studio with her dad at the same time. We love working with couples with busy schedules because we want them to feel comfortable focusing on their jobs and passions while we tackle the nitty-gritty of wedding planning.
Drop us a note if you’re in the same boat and looking for help!
