Can you mix velvet, gold, animals, and high fashion in an old castle in the Canadian Rockies?
When Holly first told me about her and Abraham’s vision for their wedding, I was in love. Black, white, grey and gold and green touches…be still my heart! Although Holly and Abraham have serious careers in finance and fashion, their personal side is stylish and fun. They have an obvious zest for life, and because of this their wedding absolutely had to reflect their personal style and unique tastes.
Nicole Sarah lovingly captured the details of this high-fashion wedding. And, you cannot miss the video from Beyond The Frame Media. It captured the energy and joie-de-vivre of this Lebanese wedding — a must-see!
This wedding was also featured on Wedluxe and Nordstrom’s wedding blog.
Fairmont Banff Springs indoor ceremony
We like to think that any vendor can do well under the best circumstances. But it’s the best vendors that can pull things off in less than ideal circumstances. So, despite the un-cooperating weather, Holly and Abraham’s wedding ceremony was everything they hoped for. The airy-bright hall at Fairmont Banff Springs let in tons of light on a cloudy, rainy day which created a cozy and romantic mood. It was also private! We had lots of “security” manning the entrances as the Springs is a tourist mecca.
Designing a Mount Stephen Hall wedding
One challenge of hosting a wedding at Mount Stephen Hall is that it’s very popular for weddings and has recognizable architecture. Because of this, it can be hard to make the room look unique to each couple while still respecting the nature of the room.
It’s key to our design philosophy that we don’t try and make something into what it’s not. That means we don’t cover things up in hopes of disguising an undesirable feature. In addition, we never force a colour scheme or aesthetic that doesn’t work seamlessly in the room. Even though Holly and Abraham’s colour scheme worked well in Mount Stephen Hall, adding animals was a different story…
Eclectic animal wedding decor
One of the most interesting elements to Holly and Abraham’s wedding was the animals. Almost everyone asks “what’s with the animals?”. Well, the groom loves animals and is known for animal touches in his everyday clothing and in home decor. Naturally, animals had to be included in the decor, even it’s more of a quirky detail. I think we were successful in pulling everything off without going kitschy and keeping things modern and streamlined.
To reflect Abraham’s Lebanese culture in the wedding, Holly and her parents arranged Lebanese dancers as a surprise to Abraham and all the guests. It was a tight space, but the dancers did not disappoint!
