One of my favourite parts of design shows or articles is seeing the renderings or sketches of the designers’ vision and how the design came together in reality. So why not share with you the wedding design sketches we create at Evelyn Clark Weddings?
Sometimes, no matter how much time we spend scouring the internet, we can’t find any examples that come close to what we are envisioning for our clients. This is where breaking out the pencil crayons and sketch pad is necessary. Getting the design concept out onto paper encourages us to flex our creative muscles and keep our artistic skills sharp. More importantly, our wedding design sketches help our clients understand the vision for their wedding and gets them excited!

In this example of Sketch to Reality, we had to develop a tablescape design for Calgary’s Luxe by Calgary Bride magazine. We were free to do whatever we wanted within the space of Raw Bar in Hotel Arts.
Here is the first rough sketch:

and finally, the results:

What do you think? The final results are pretty close to the sketch design concept. Our florist presented a tulip runner instead of a rose runner, but the tulips end up working better because of the added green in the overall colour scheme. This shows how your wedding vendors need to work together to create the best version of a design concept — always hire and work with people you trust to improve your ideas.
Stay tuned for more sketch and design concepts!
