I just finished watching Coco Avant Chanel (Coco Before Chanel), and I’m smitten.

What a perfect wedding inspiration.

But The Great Gatsby is the hot trend right now! I hear you, but there is just something alluring about the classic French style. Coco Chanel is for all time.

There is no shortage of Chanel-inspired weddings, baby showers, bridal showers (etc.) out there.

My inspiration, however, is from the things I saw in the movie and also about Coco’s life. Black and white, of course, are prevalent but I’m also influenced by the crystal/clear accents with mirrors and gold from Coco’s 31 Rue Cambon apartment.

I love the Chateau chairs, and this whole blog post inspiration started when I saw Audrey Tautou sitting on a black Chateau (or similar) chair in the movie. These are a must-have!

This wedding style would not be complete without tons of classic white roses in sleek black vases. Add in mirrored and lucite accents to evoke those famous apartment stairs. And a black wedding gown? Why not? Coco was famous for being different and ahead of her time. Vera Wang is bringing in black into her collection so who knows? Maybe that trend will catch on.

Chanel’s style is one that inspires again and again, and it’s no surprise why: the look is all about being consistently clean and sophisticated. This is something we at Evelyn Clark Weddings strive for when we design and plan weddings.
