“An ode to the Paris Opera: Degas… young dancers floating about the stage! Artful and adorable!”
In her own words, Degas is the inspiration behind Vera Wang’s 2012 bridal collection seen at the recent New York Bridal Market. For those who are less familiar with Degas’ collection of dancers, here are a few refreshers:
You can really see The Dancers’ influence in the colour palette of this collection: I, personally, love Wang’s use of the muted yellow, green and grey among the typical white dresses.
The following photos of this collection are directly from Vera Wang’s website.
Here are some closer, detail shots from Weddings Unveiled by Michael Norwood where you can see the extensive use of layered, sheer materials like tulle and organza.
Blush pink is such a great wedding dress colour trend, and I really love this dress. I admit that I am biased, though, seeing how the really dramatic tight, ruffled, mermaid train is a favourite wedding dress look of mine…but you better get working on those squats if you want to wear this dress!
“Well, yeah you know grey is my favourite colour…” (10 points to anyone that gets the 90s musical reference?) and the combination with blush pink is a wonderful classic wedding colour palette. The added pleated fabric under the grey fabric is such an unusual surprise.
Oh how my heart goes a-flutter with the details in this dress. From the pretty, soft yellow to the high waist cinched with a shiny grey ribbon to the layers upon layers of ruffles…I would wear this just to hang around my house if I could!
I am a huge fan of this spring’s Vera Wang collection…what are your thoughts? And which one is your favourite?
