I am a pet parent (boy, does that sound funny)…are you?
It’s no secret that this Calgary wedding planner loves animals! I am guilty of spoiling my cats and treating them like my kids. But as any pet owner knows, each pet has a distinct personality that offers endless amusement, so it’s natural that pets are considered a part of the family.
While most venues in Calgary and in the Calgary area do not allow pets to be part of the wedding for some obvious reasons, this did not deter the creativity of some of my clients. They found a way to include their pets into their wedding in some shape or form.
Here are two handsome pooches from some of our past weddings:

These little guys couldn’t come to the wedding, but their owners requested I make them a part of the wedding anyway:

Your dog would have to be pretty well trained to do this without assistance:

I never thought this would be possible (otherwise I would have done this for my own wedding)…a cat in a bow tie!

A very brave couple (and photographer)! Very brave…

As a pet lover, I think it’s so sweet to include beloved pets into a wedding. However, before you march off to buy your puppy a cute tuxedo, I think you have to be smart and very honest about the personality of your pet and your own personality.
Animals can be unpredictable, so if you are okay with some random barking (or, ahem, worse things) during your ceremony, this may work for you. Above all, you must have someone that can supervise your pet and take him/her away when things get too exciting.
How do you feel about pets at wedding?
