English garden romance influence with touches of contrasting black
Jeanine and Jared hosted their black, neutral and gold wedding at Silvertip Golf Resort in Canmore, Alberta. Like me, these two originally hail from Regina, Saskatchewan but now call Calgary home. Fun facts: 1) Jeanine and Jared attended my rival high school. 2) Their photographer, Natalie Andrusiak’s, husband and my husband used to work together. I thought that these were signs that we were meant-to-be, and I’m glad Jeanine and Jared thought so too!
Jeanine and Jared are those people that think of every single detail. No item was missed (Jeanine is a doctor, after all). They gave out Rescue Flats ballet slippers for guests. Their First Dance choreography included the wedding party. They also individually thanked every single vendor, which is always appreciated.
From the start, Jeanine and Jared appreciated that their wedding would be the culmination of a lot of work from many people. They also understood that their guests would look to them for direction: if they are leading the way on the dance floor, then guests will be more inclined to dance, and etc. I admired their perceptive observation. And it all made sense when they told me that they met at a wedding where Jared was the photographer.

It was a smokey August day, but some of the mountains were peeking out. The wedding vibe was romantic, yet trendy. Jeanine and Jared wanted an English garden feel, but we also needed to balance that out with their modern tastes.
To create the garden feel, we used romantic flowers like big, blooming roses, soft colours and different textures of fabric. As a nod to their engagement in Europe where they took cooking lessons, we incorporated rosemary and herbs.

My favourite details in this wedding are the touches of black in the decor. The black ties in Jeanine and Jared’s personal taste, and keeps the overall look from getting precious. We specifically ordered these stoneware chargers for this wedding and are so glad Modern Luxe was able to do this!
We managed to sneak by with close to 200 guests in Silvertip’s Pavilion room by getting creative. The floor plan design was a bit snug, but we knew that we could tweak some wiggle room on-site. With this many guests, typically the bar at Silvertip would be in another room down the hall. Jeanine and Jared didn’t love the idea of the bar being far. Our solution? Put the bar on the patio with a tent. This way, guests would be close to the action and could catch a breath of mountain air when they wanted.
One of the show-stoppers of this wedding was the dessert table. I have never seen dessert eaten so fast in our 10 years of business! It just goes to show that Whippt’s creations look good but taste even better.
