The use of balloons for engagement photos is all the rage right now, and I’m wondering how many Calgary brides are jumping on this whimsical trend? Balloons are cute, fairly easy to rig up and provide a fun pop of colour and dimension to photos. I am sometimes nervous about couples who style their wedding or engagement photos because the props and “style” aspect can take over the couple’s intimacy and nature of the occasion. I think balloons, however, are a great compromise to the styled vs. “real” shoot because they are a small prop and easily accessible.

Martha Stewart covered this trend as early as 2009 and this photo shows how it could be used tastefully at a wedding reception (I like how these giant balloons are strung across the ceiling like paper lanterns):
