Congratulations to all of excited brides-to-be! For most of you, shopping for your wedding dress is one of (if not, THE) highlights of your wedding journey, and I bet you are all wondering about the latest trends and what’s new in wedding fashion. Lucky for you, I have scoured through the images from the NYC Bridal Market 2013 for the latest in wedding dresses so that you can gather your ideas for your ideal wedding dress. Let’s get started!
Wedding dress trends for 2013 from Calgary wedding planner
Pink wedding dresses
By now, you have probably seen the infamous photos of Jessica Biel’s pink, mega-layered Giambattista Valli wedding dress to Justin Timberlake. Jessica follows some other celebrities in favouring a pink wedding gown for her nuptials, including Anne Hathaway’s romantic ballgown, Reese Witherspoon’s simple, pale pink dress and Gwen Stefani’s hot pink dip-dyed, couture wedding gown.
Designers seem to be grabbing onto the popularity of these rosy celebrity choices, and are continuing to send down wedding dress designs with varying shades of pink, including blush, rose and even mocha. Is this something for the Calgary bride?

You can also opt to mix in a latte coloured dress with a punch of rich colour. These Alfred Angelo dresses with beautiful cranberry coloured sashes are so romantic:
Wedding dresses with back bows & peplums
While not for everyone, these outrightly feminine additions certainly lend a “wow” or even “va-va-voom” factor to your wedding dress. If back bows and peplums are for you, then prepare to look a little playful or whimsical, but always elegant.

Wedding dresses with a back story
These dresses are such a beautiful surprise. If you love your back and want something romantic, while alluring, the illusion back/lace back wedding dress is perfect for coyly showing some skin and adding intricate detail. Nicole Richie’s wedding dress is still one of my favourites of this style:

While these are the hot trends for 2013 wedding dresses, I want to emphasize that the best trend for you is the one that makes you feel beautiful. Whether you love a simple wedding gown with modern, clean lines, or an ornate, over-the-top detail wedding dress, you should feel like you at your very best on your wedding day!
If you are not already on it, Pinterest is a great a way to collect ideas and see if any themes come out of your wedding dress selections (check our our Pins!). And when you are ready to start trying on wedding dresses, my tip is that you go wearing make-up and your hair styled nicely (this doesn’t have to be an updo, by any means) so that you can get the full effect of looking like a Bride when wearing gorgeous gowns. Don’t forget to try and go with a small entourage to avoid confusion and too many opinions! All of these things will make your wedding dress shopping much more enjoyable.
