As a Calgary wedding planner that loves creating sweet tables, I wanted to share a custom sweet table we worked on recently for clients hosting their intimate wedding at the lovely Bonterra Trattoria in downtown Calgary.
As this was a smaller, intimate wedding with simple elegance, we wanted to keep the sweet table design very simple and clean with a modern feel while using the bright greens, white and silver wedding colours.
When designing sweet tables, I focus not only on the aesthetics of the table, but also the sweets. I always tell my wedding & design clients to pick crowd-pleasing treats, even if sometimes the clients don’t love the particular sweet themselves, in order to make sure everyone has an enjoyable experience…and so they won’t be stuck with a bunch of uneaten sweets!
For this sweet table, I picked the ever-popular cake balls and cake pops, fun candy like gummy frogs and sour apple gummies, classic cupcakes (yes, cupcakes have graduated to “classic” wedding fare, by now!) and chocolates. Instead of the usual flavours like vanilla and chocolate, the client picked some fun flavours like toffee bit, cookies n’ cream and peanut butter.
And since our client’s beloved pet could not be a part of the wedding like in these weddings with pets, we included Lola the Puggle by printing her image on custom chocolates.

Calgary Wedding Planner
