Having helped several couples get married at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise‘s Lakeview Terrace, we put together some behind-the-scenes video footage to show you what it’s really like to get married at beautiful Lake Louise.

Lake Louise wedding ceremony for small to large guest count
This particular wedding had 60 seats. This is a fairly small wedding for having occurred pre-Covid, and if/when you’re able to go bigger the terrace can accommodate 100+ guests. The front half of the terrace is narrow, meaning the rows only have 4 chairs per side. But the second half of the terrace is larger, so you could have more chairs per row.

Public area behind the officiant and couple
The area immediately behind the gate (behind where the couple and officiant stand) is Banff National Park property, and not Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise property. This means that anyone can stand there during your Ceremony.
Generally speaking, people are respectful and will not make noise or a spectacle during your Ceremony. However, people will still stand at this spot, enjoying the lake view, so your photographer will painstakingly edit these people out of your photos!

Your Ceremony is in full view of tourists
The stunning view comes with a bit of a cost. Your Ceremony is in full view of tourists and the general public.
Lake Louise is a very popular location to tourists from all over the world, and when you choose to have your wedding at this location you have to be ok with being a bit of a celebrity.

When your Ceremony takes place, our team stand guard, so to speak, at the “back” of the ceremony site so that we can stop anyone from getting too close. People mean well, and they are always excited to see a wedding, but we want to keep them being a distraction during your Ceremony.
If looking at this makes you re-think things, don’t forget that you have the option to hold your Ceremony on Victoria Terrace instead of Lakeview Terrace.
Victoria Terrace is the terrace off of Victoria Ballroom. Although it’s a smaller terrace and doesn’t offer a close-up view, you still have a clear view of the lake and the mountains. Best of all, it’s completely private to your wedding.
