A little glam, a little rustic, and all elegance
Kathleen and Matt held their blush and ivory wedding at Azuridge Estate Hotel just outside of Calgary, Alberta. Although they lived in Edmonton while Matt attended law school, they wanted to get married in Kathleen’s hometown of Calgary.
One of the hardest things to do in wedding planning is to find a wedding venue that suits your personal style. While Kathleen wished for something tasteful and glamourous for their wedding, Matt wanted something for his more rustic taste. Azuridge fit these requirements. However, we put in some work to bring the venue up to level of elegance and glam that Kathleen (and MOB Maureen!) envisioned.
Outdoor wedding ceremony at Azuridge
Flash forward to a Saturday in August, with the weather just the right temperature for an outdoor ceremony. The ceremony decor consisted of elegant flowers in white, cream, blush and light greenery. The property is scenic enough that we didn’t want to distract from the veiws (and Kathleen’s stunning Hayley Paige dress!). After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a blush coloured signature drink “Dangerous Diamond” and Old-Fashioneds in the unique, multi-level gazebo patio at Azuridge.
Wedding floor plan options at Azuridge Hotel
One of the challenges of planning and designing this wedding was creating a floor plan that would cater to everyone’s requests. Maureen wanted everyone to feel special and included, so she prefered round tables to long. However, the Tourmaline room is a converted garage, which means the room is long and narrow (yes, there are garage doors). In order to get their guest list into this room, long tables were our best bet. So why not combine both long and round?
Blush, ivory, gold and crystal wedding reception decor
When designing weddings, I don’t try and cover up details that are too obvious to cover up. One feature of the Tourmaline room that people may or may not love are the garage doors. Instead of draping to cover up the doors, we designed stunning table decor. Crystal candelabras, tall floral centrepieces combined with low, mirrored vase florals…not to mention a ton of gold and rose gold votive candles to wow guests without cramping their eating space (so key!). With a tight wedding palette of blush, golds, and mirrored/clear details, the entire wedding was cohesive. The garage doors were definitely not the focus!
Pink rose dance floor lighting
This rose patterned dance floor lighting is one of my favourite details. To create something more special in the dance area, I thought about projecting roses onto the dark floor. Luckily, Silvermoon Productions got the pattern we wanted! Isn’t it stunning on the dance floor?
Black and white photo booth in Calgary
Keeping in theme of glamour, this is the wedding to debut Our Lavish Guests‘ elegant black and white photo booth! I wanted to find a local Calgary company to provide this service for Kathleen and Matt, so I went straight to Erin and Andrew to see if they could help me out. We had the same brain wave because they had been thinking about launching this service. Thus, Our Lavish Guests was officially launched.
Guests LOVED this photo booth. Your guests get a professional image of themselves after spending hours getting ready for your wedding. It’s something your guests will keep and appreciate. And isn’t that what you really want for your guests after the food is gone and the decor is down?
