An elegant wedding in the Rocky Mountains of Canmore

Stephanie and Craig came all the way from Houston to get married at Silvertip Resort in Canmore, Alberta. It was a whirlwind of a wedding as mere days before their flights to Canada, Houston was hit by Hurricane Harvey. Texts were flying and I was keeping vendors updated on the situation!

Unfortunately, several guests were impacted and could not make the journey to celebrate. But Steph and Craig were lucky that they came through unscathed. Despite some last-minute adjustments and accommodations, we made it! And the day went off without a hitch.

Wedding ceremony at Silvertip Resort’s gazebo

One of my favourite personal touches Steph and Craig put into their wedding was, as Craig put it, “The King”. Steph and Craig weaved hints of Elvis in their wedding because Craig is from Memphis, Tennessee. Craig’s uncle read the lyrics from Elvis’ “Love Me Tender” while accompanied by the string duet during their ceremony. Later, Craig danced with his mom to another Elvis song, “Kentucky Rain” as their Mother/Son dance.

Steph and Craig’s ceremony was pretty but also meaningful. It can be easy to get caught up in the tornado of planning and managing family (and more), but it’s important to take a step back to acknowledge your background as well as your future together.

 

 

Blush, cream, lace and metallic accents wedding

Stephanie and Craig chose ivory, creams and blush as the base for their decor and used mixed metals and greenery as accents. The lace overlays added a feminine texture to the more masculine, rustic decor of Silvertip’s Pavilion room. The greenery gave fresh and lively contrast to the light coloured decor. And, of course, the pretty cafe lights added a whimsical and romantic touch to the room.
 

 

Canada meets USA wedding

When a Canadian gal marries a Southern gentleman…they love the thrill of the fight?! The Canada vs. ‘Merica is an on-going thing between Steph and Craig, so they had these custom robes made up for their Grand Entrance. It was a surprise for everyone as the bride and groom came out with their dukes up!
