A romantic wedding at River Cafe in Calgary, AB

A few words that come to mind when speaking with Cristina and Ben about their wedding were quality and hospitality. Cristina and Ben wanted to spoil their guests and show them some of the best Calgary has to offer. So, they naturally chose River Cafe for their wedding venue. River Cafe’s unique location and award-winning food is a perfect choice for a wedding that wows.

With their busy schedules, Cristina and Ben worked with us for complete wedding planning and design support. Their focus was on creating a beautiful atmosphere for guests with top-notch food and stunning decor.

But, wedding planning is never without some bumps. Cristina and Ben nearly cancelled everything due to the Fort McMurray fires. Although they were lucky to have no damage on their home, it was difficult to think about celebrating when many people lost everything.

In the end, Cristina and Ben wanted everyone to have a reason to kick off their shoes and have a good time, if only for a little while. These two were so calm about everything, it was an absolute joy to make their dream wedding come true!

 

 

Ivory, blush, gold and navy rustic glam wedding

Cristina envisioned tons of flowers and glamourous details. However, because of River Cafe’s distinct rustic look, our challenge was to create a wedding that fit Cristina’s style but wouldn’t look out of place with the restaurant decor. The florals are stunning. But we also included hints of nautical touches because Cristina and Ben met on a cruise ship. Glitzy gold sequin linens added sparkle for the glamour Cristina wanted. Rather than fight the restaurants’ unique decor and floor plan though, we designed everything to look like it belonged. But with maximum wow-factor, of course.

 

 

The River Cafe Calgary wedding venue

When you choose The River Cafe as your wedding venue, you have to expect a gourmet wedding meal! Fresh, seasonal, and local cuisine combined with top-shelf drinks gave Cristina and Ben’s guests something to rave about. Because that wasn’t enough, cake, a full dessert spread and late-night snacks were included too.

Something I love about intimate weddings is that guests get the chance to interact closely. Everyone got a chance to chat with Cristina & Ben, and the dance floor was packed with people chatting and just having a good time. At the end of the night, guests received take-away boxes, filled with signature sweets to cap off their experience. Guests also took advantage of the abundance of flowers left over…even the men grabbed centrepieces 🙂

What a treat it was to work with such a laid-back couple with the kindest hearts!
