I’m so excited to share more of my décor shoot from the premiere issue of Luxe by Calgary Bride. Evelyn Clark Weddings was a Calgary wedding planner asked to design a wedding tablescape for this luxury wedding magazine. We are thrilled to give inspiration and ideas for brides and grooms planning their wedding!
Last week, I previewed a few photos from our Luxe décor shoot on our Facebook Page. We are really proud of this unique and glam table design, and today I am giving you a look at how it all came together.
Calgary wedding planner & designer — Orange & blue, modern glam wedding design
When couples work with me to plan and design their weddings, they look to me to bring more creativity into their wedding. I start a design by gathering images to make an inspiration board. Some of these images are collected based the words a couple wants associated with their wedding. Some of the images are simply things the bride and groom came across and love. This is one of the reasons why I love Pinterest to collect ideas.

While gathering inspiring images, I came across this photo from Lonny magazine and loved it. The photo didn’t have anything to do with designs I was working on at the time, so I tucked it away into my design inspiration folder. But when Lisa, Director of publication of Luxe, and I discussed ideas for a décor shoot, I knew this photo would be the perfect inspiration point.
Drawn to the eclectic mix of orange and blue, I admired the use of pattern, colour and glamour of gold in the overall design. The look, however, is a bit too bold for a wedding. I gathered other inspiration images to blend this eclecticism with Evelyn Clark Weddings’ timeless and chic style.
Here’s our inspiration board:
I wanted bold flowers, styled in a modern fashion. I loved the vibrant colour combos, and originally wanted a coloured table linen. But as the design developed, it got way too dark, so I switched to classic white and let the colours pop as accents. Overall, I wanted a classic feel with a modern emphasis — to show brides that you can have fun with your wedding design but still get an elegant look.
Here’s a look at the inspiration come to life…
